About us

The Confederation of Pentecostal and Evangelical Ministries (COPE) in Uganda was established with the vision of unifying Pentecostal and Evangelical churches under a single cohesive umbrella to advocate, collaborate, and empower across the nation. The organization aimed to strengthen the nation’s spiritual life, address social issues, and foster national development through the teachings of Christ.

The formal establishment of COPE was solidified with its registration under the Uganda Company Act on the 26th of April 2023. This legal milestone marked the beginning of COPE as a recognized entity with the authority to operate nationwide. It provided a legal framework for COPE to pursue its mission with legitimacy and credibility. Following its registration, COPE was officially launched on the 9th of June 2023, symbolizing the beginning of a new chapter for the Pentecostal and Evangelical community in Uganda.

The success and impact of COPE are driven by its strong and dedicated National Leadership Team, composed of highly respected leaders in the Pentecostal and Evangelical communities. The team includes the National General Overseer, Deputy National General Overseer, Secretary General, National Treasurer, National Mobilizer, Leader of Prayer, National Public Relations Officer, Assistant General Overseer-Eastern, and National Registrar, who collectively guide the strategic direction, smooth operation, and mission implementation of COPE. Central to the ethos of COPE is a steadfast commitment to collaboration. By uniting Pentecostal and Evangelical churches across Uganda, COPE fosters unity and cooperation among diverse congregations. Through collaboration, COPE harnesses the strengths and resources of its member churches to achieve common objectives, such as organizing large-scale events, launching community development initiatives, and addressing national issues. This spirit of partnership ensures that the body of Christ remains unified, thereby maximizing impact through collective effort and shared vision.

Objectives:

Unite Member Churches: Foster unity among Pentecostal and Evangelical churches across Uganda to work together towards common spiritual and social goals.

Resource Sharing: Facilitate the sharing of resources, knowledge, and best practices among member churches to enhance their capacity to serve their communities.

Joint Initiatives: Promote and organize joint initiatives, such as large-scale evangelistic campaigns, community outreach programs, and national prayer events that amplify the collective impact of the Church.

Benefits:

The following text outlines the objectives, access points, and benefits of joining the COPE organization, with a specific focus on three key areas: collaboration, empowerment, and advocacy.

Collaboration:

Member churches and ministries can benefit from a united front in achieving greater impact and increased resources through formal membership, collaboration platforms, and participation in COPE’s events and programs.

Empowerment is integral to COPE’s mission, as the organization seeks to uplift and equip its members, congregations, and communities. COPE provides training, resources, and support to pastors, church leaders, and believers, enabling them to develop in their faith and leadership capabilities. By empowering individuals and churches, COPE encourages them to play an active role in spiritual growth, social transformation, and community development. This empowerment extends to marginalized groups, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to contribute to, and benefit from, the work of the Church.

Objective:

The objectives of empowerment encompass leadership development, capacity building, and support for marginalized groups. The benefits include personal growth, organizational strength, and inclusive participation. Access is provided through training programs, resource centers, and mentorship and support networks.

Advocacy is a vital aspect of COPE’s work, as the organization represents the interests of Pentecostal and Evangelical churches at both national and local levels. COPE advocates for religious freedom, social justice, and policies that align with Biblical principles, ensuring that the voice of the Church is heard in the public sphere. Through strategic engagement with government, civil society, and other stakeholders, COPE works to influence decisions and policies that affect the spiritual and social well-being of communities across Uganda. By standing up for the rights and values of its members, COPE fulfills its calling to be a prophetic voice in the nation.

Objective:

The objectives revolve around promoting religious freedom, influencing policy, and addressing social justice issues. The benefits include a stronger voice in governance, protection of rights, and contribution to positive social change. Access is facilitated through advocacy campaigns, engagement with leaders, and information dissemination via newsletters, alerts, and social media updates.

Through structured objectives, tangible benefits, and accessible opportunities, COPE aims to empower its members to collaborate effectively, grow in their ministries, and advocate for positive change within their communities and the nation.
